RIYADH: The Saudi national football team defeated Iceland 1-0 in an international friendly on Sunday ahead of their World Cup campaign.
The match took place at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium as part of the third stage of a preparatory program for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which kicks off on Nov. 20.
The Green Falcons鈥� goal was scored by Saud Abdel Hamid in the 26th minute.
Saudi captain Salman Al-Faraj was injured in the 40th minute and replaced by Ayman Yahya.
The match against Iceland is the Green Falcons鈥� fourth friendly in the current stage, with one game to come against Panama on Nov. 10.
